CARLISLE, Pa. - The 20th-ranked Dickinson field hockey team continued their unblemished start on Saturday afternoon by getting a 1-0 win in their Centennial Conference opener over the 18th-ranked Ursinus College at the Biddle Field Complex. Sophia Pereira steered the ball into the cage. It marked the third game this season where the Red and White have scored the winning goal in either the fourth quarter or overtime.
First Quarter
Second Quarter
- Dickinson continued to just keep pounding away at the visitors backline recording three shots inside the opening six minutes. Two opportunities from Pereira were blocked down by the defense, while Megan McClure had an attempt get by Palladinetti unfortunately it was cleared off the line by Lauren Sieczkowski.
- Ursinus finally got their first chance of the match in the 27th-minute when off a penalty corner Rachel Fosbenner was denied by goalie Taylor Morrow.
- The Red and White asked one more question of Palladinetti with two minutes left, but she was up to the task against Pereira.
Third Quarter
- The Bears scratched and clawed their way through the first ten minutes tallying four shots off of three corners tasking Morrow into making a pair of stops.
- Nicole Uebele would record the lone chance for the Devils in the 42nd-minute, however, she launched it over the cage to end the period.
Fourth Quarter
- Two minutes into the frame Uebele recorded a shot, but the UC defense was there to knock the ball down.
- From minutes 53 thru 57 the visitors earned three corners resulting in two shots both saved by Morrow.
- Then, with 57:48 left the Devils made it 1-0 when McClure carried down the left-side and fed the ball to Alex Hackett who slipped a pass between her legs to Pereira for the finish and the win.
