PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The 23rd-ranked Dickinson men's squash program concluded a very busy New England states swing on Monday afternoon by picking up a 6-3 win over the host Brown University Bears at the Brodsky Squash Pavilion. With the win, the Red and White were able to snap their seven-match slide and gave the side some much needed momentum heading into the rest of the season.
Inside the Match
Joe Smythe continued to show why he has been playing at the top of the ladder for the Red Devils posting a 3-1 win over Harrison Yang securing himself a 5-0 mark as an individual on the trip. The matches at three, six and nine were forced to go the distance with Dickinson coming out on top of both. First, at three,
Owen Buroker dug himself out of a 2-0 hole against Tim Cassidy before taking the next three 11-4, 11-7 and 11-2 to earn the win. Then at five,
Derek Du and Archer Gould traded the opening four games, but Du would be the one who found the inner strength to push himself to an 11-8 win in the fifth. Finally in the nine spot,
George Vollmer V got out to a 2-0 lead versus Griffin Taylor. However, two consecutive wins for Taylor set the stage for Vollmer V to claim a hard-fought 11-8 victory during the deciding game.
James Kiracofe playing at eight rallied back after dropping the first game to defeat Jacob Robinson in four, while
Will Krizek dispatched of Isaac Dahan in straight games at four.Â
