Devils Claim Fifth at MASC Championships

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Dickinson women's squash team concluded a busy weekend at the Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference Championships on Sunday afternoon at the Boar's Head Sports Club. Over the course of three days the Red and White took on Drexel University and the University of Virginia in pool play, before knocking off Franklin & Marshall College to secure a fifth-place finish.

Match One - Cavaliers 9, DEVILS 0
Inside the Match

Dickinson would only win one game over the duration of the match and that would come at the two line as Katie Herring took the first from Clare Minnis, before dropping the next three. Anabel Romero playing at the top of the ladder competed hard with Charlotte Pastel claiming a total of 20 points, but was not quite able to nab a game. Unfortunately for Dickinson, no one else throughout the duration of the match was able to reach double-digits in points scored as the Cavaliers secured the match.

Match Three - DEVILS 4, Diplomats 4 (DEVILS win based on 13 games won to 12)
Inside the Match
Dickinson got out to a fast start with Romero needing only 17 minutes to dispatch of Ashanti Amastal in three games at the number one spot. She was not to be outdone though by her teammate Herring a slot lower as she required only one additional minute to knock off Rory Dasher. The Red and White's other two wins came courtesy of Savelius (4th) and El-Masry (5th) as they took 18 and 14 minutes respectively to best Noelle Bardorf and Joey Ho. Three of the remaining four matches ended with the Devil suffering a 3-0 defeat. However, at the ninth flight Flowers was able to claim the first game from Destiny Ponce in a 3-1 setback. Because of Flowers picking up that one game Dickinson earned the fifth place finish as they won a combined 13 games to the Diplomats 12.
