Devils Winning Streak Halted at Seven by Fords

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's tennis team faced a stiff challenge on Friday afternoon as the Red and White tried to extend their win streak to eight in a row against Haverford College in a Centennial Conference battle. Unfortunately for the Devils, the Fords had just a little more on the day as they secured a 5-2 win at the Hays Tennis Courts.

Doubles (Fords 2-1 | Count as one point in team score)
Dickinson opened up with a 1-0 lead as Anabel Romero Gemmell and Loretta Szych were awarded a win by walkover at the number three spot. Haverford would then level the score with Aarti Prochnow and Jolie Zink edging Jenna Crain-Merve Uyumazturk in the first slot 6-2. The point came down to the second pair where Abhi Menon and Adelaide Kreutel knocked off Natasha Sharnoff-Alisa Steele (6-1).

Singles (Fords 4-2)
Dickinson made it 1-1 quick with a walkover victory at six being given to Szych. The first actual match to come to an end was at two as Prochnow gave up three games to Steele in a 6-2, 6-1 win. Then on the three line, Sharnoff took the first set off of Kreutel 6-4, but dropped the next two 3-6, 2-6. The script was then the same for Crain in the first flight as she posted a 7-3 first set tiebreak win, before Zink claimed sets two and three 1-6, 2-6. Chloe Heller accounted for the Devils other point as she blanked Maddy Kayyali 6-0 in the first prior to dropping the second in a tiebreak 7-4. She then finished off the victory with a 6-3 margin during the third. The last match to finish was at four where Menon and Uyumazturk shared the first two sets, before the Ford grabbed the super tiebreak 10-6 to lock up the 5-2 win.
