LANCASTER, Pa. - The Dickinson women's team battled hard, but ultimately fell short of beating the host Franklin and Marshall College on Tuesday by score of 5-2 in Centennial Conference action at the Brooks Tennis Center.
Doubles (Diplomats 2-1 | Count as one point in team score)
The match began with
Anabel Romero Gemmell and
Merve Uyumazturk coming out on the wrong side of a 6-1 score. F&M then assured themselves of the point as Sahara Ahmad-Rebecca Bellick defeated
Jenna Crain and
Natasha Sharnoff on the top line. Dickinson's lone triumph was in the third flight where
Alisa Steele and
Loretta Szych posted a 6-3 victory.
Singles (Diplomats 4-2)
It became 2-0 home side with Sophia Rhazali knocking off
Chloe Heller at five (6-1, 6-3). The Diplomats then added another to the advantage as Bellick bested Sharnoff by identical 6-1, 6-1 margins. F&M decided the match with their victory at four where Kakie Colclough had a little bit more than Uyumazturk claiming wins of 6-1, 6-3. At two, Ahmad held off Steele 7-6 in the first, before grabbing the second in a 6-0 shutout. Szych was the first Devil to seize victory defeating Amelia Squires 6-1, 7-5. Crain would cap off the match with a win on the one line as she bested Natalie Untermeyer (6-4, 2-6, 1-0).
