(Bethlehem, Pa.) - The Dickinson College women's tennis team
used four straight-set wins and a pair of doubles victories to post
a 7-2 win at Moravian on Saturday.
The Devils opened a 2-1 lead, capturing the second and third
flights. Joelle
Nitzberg (W. Windsor, N.J./W. Windsor Plainsboro S.)
and Carla Cox
(Moorestown, N.J.Moorestown) won the second flight, 8-1
while Sarah
Woodward (Scarsdale, N.Y./Eastchester) and Sarah
Lindner (Warrenton, Va./Wakefield) claimed an 8-3
decision over Erica Venuti and Katie Zien.
Nitzberg rallied for a 4-6, 6-0, 10-8 win in the second singles
flight. Woodward won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0, in the fourth
flight while Lindner took the sixth, 6-0, 6-3.
First-year Shannon
Lavery (Huntington, W. Va.) rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win
in the third flight and Nora
Hajnoczky (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) was a 6-1,
6-1 winner at number five. Alysia
Rodgers (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) dropped a tough
decision in the top singles flight, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.
The Red Devils start the season 1-0.
