(Grantham, Pa.) - The Dickinson
College softball team dropped a pair of games to defending national
champion, Messiah College on Wednesday. The Falcons claimed the
opener 3-1 and escaped with a 3-2 decision in the nightcap. The
Falcons improve to 11-2 on the season. |
A walk and a triple put Messiah on the board in the first
inning. The Falcons pushed across two in the third inning for a 3-0
advantage.
Junior Emma Murtaugh (Holmdel,
N.J./Holmdel) doubled and came around to score on a
double by Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair
Academy) in the sixth.
Jess Rhoads recorded 15 strikeouts in the win. Liz
Barry (Millis, Mass./Noble
& Greenough) allowed just
six hits while striking out four.
Stephanie Schell tripled and scored in the second to put Messiah
in front 1-0 in game two. The Devils answered in the top of the
third when Rachel Jordan (Medford,
N.J./Shawnee) doubled to score Jess
Haklar (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and then
scored on a single from Sisco.
Schnell doubled and scored on a double by Daniella Pusateri in
the sixth.
Allison Jordan (Medford,
N.J./Shawnee) recorded six strikeouts in the
loss.
The Devils (7-10) were held to just two hits in game two. They
host Swarthmore College on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
