CARLISLE, Pa. – Dickinson College has announced the hiring of Sami Davidson as the next head coach of the Red Devils softball program, bringing to Carlisle a coach with extensive NCAA Division III playing and coaching experience.

Davidson comes to Dickinson after serving as an assistant coach at Randolph-Macon College since September 2024, where she has been involved in nearly every aspect of the program, including recruiting, practice planning, player development, scouting, defensive strategy and game-day preparation.

Davidson's time at Randolph-Macon has included success on the national stage. The Yellow Jackets captured the Newport News Regional and Bethlehem Super Regional championships in 2025 before advancing to the NCAA Division III World Series and finishing third nationally. Randolph-Macon also produced the Division III National Pitcher of the Year and a First Team All-American, two NFCA All-Region honorees and nine All-ODAC selections. The program added four All-ODAC selections and the ODAC Rookie of the Year in 2026.

At Randolph-Macon, Davidson managed all facets of student-athlete recruitment, from identification and evaluation through campus visits and continued communication. She worked with the head coach to plan practices and execute development plans for position groups while controlling defensive shifts for both the infield and outfield during competition. Davidson also organized scouting materials using game footage and 6-4-3 Charts software and directed youth and prospect camps ranging from 12 to 140 participants.

Before joining the collegiate coaching ranks, Davidson served in assistant and head coaching roles at Saint Gertrude High School during the 2023-24 academic year. She developed practices focused on hitting, fielding, pitching and baserunning while collaborating on game strategy and in-game adjustments.

Davidson has also worked as an instructor at Richmond Baseball Academy West since November 2023, designing individualized training plans in hitting, infield play, catching and baserunning. Her work includes using video analysis to evaluate mechanics and helping athletes navigate the recruiting process as they pursue opportunities at the collegiate level.

Her coaching career follows an accomplished playing career at Randolph-Macon.

Davidson earned NFCA All-Atlantic Region First Team, All-State First Team and All-ODAC First Team honors in 2018. She added All-ODAC Third Team recognition in 2019 and was selected to the All-Tournament Team at the Ewing, New Jersey Regional as Randolph-Macon advanced to the NCAA Division III World Series and finished seventh nationally. She later earned All-State Second Team honors in 2020.

That combination of experience as both a successful Division III student-athlete and coach has helped shape Davidson's approach as she takes the next step in her career.

Davidson earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from Randolph-Macon in 2022 with minors in Studio Art and Art History. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Coaching and Sports Leadership at Randolph College.
