Jordan Records 11 Strikeouts in Devil Softball Win

(Carlisle, Pa.) - The Dickinson College softball team split a Centennial Conference double-header with Swarthmore on Saturday to open league play 1-1.

 

The Garnet capitalized on six Red Devil errors to claim the opener, 6-0. Kyrie Budnik (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) went 2-for-3 with a double to lead the Devils at the plate.

 

Liz Barry (Millis, Mass./Noble & Greenough) suffered the loss despite allowing just one earned run.

 

A pitcher's duel in game two led to a 1-0 Red Devil victory asAlesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair Academy) hit a triple to the wall in right center to score Emma Murtaugh (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) in the bottom of the sixth.

 

Senior Allison Jordan (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) recorded 11 strikeouts, one shy of a career-high, in a one-hit effort.

 

Sisco tallied two of the Devils four hits in game two. Kathryn Riley went 1-1, pitching both games for Swarthmore.

 

The Red Devils improved to 8-12 overall and 1-1 in the Centennial Conference. They host Muhlenberg on Tuesday evening at 5:00 pm.
