(Collegeville, Pa.) - The
Dickinson College softball team dropped a pair of games at
Centennial Conference front-runner Ursinus on Saturday. The Bears
won the opener, 8-2, and slipped past the Devils 1-0 in the
nightcap. |
A two-run homer put Ursinus (18-2, 8-0) on the board in the
first inning of game one. They tacked on three in the third with
the help of a two-run double. A pair of lead-off walks led to three
more Bear runs in the sixth.
Junior Emma Murtaugh (Holmdel,
N.J./Holmdel) drove in both Dickinson runs with a
double in the fifth inning.
Jess Haklar (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern
Lehigh) went 2-for-2 with a run scored
while Erin King (Bowie, Md./Bowie) added
a double, going 3-for-4 and scoring the Devils' other run.
Lauren Davis improved to 14-1 on the year, recording 10
strikeouts.
The Bears pushed across an unearned run in the first inning of
game two and held on behind a two-hit effort from Jennilyn
Weber.
Mary Kate Flannery (Westfield,
N.J./Westfield) spoiled the no-hitter right off the
bat with a single to lead-off the game. King added a double in the
third inning.
Senior Allison Jordan (Medford,
N.J./Shawnee) recorded seven strikeouts for the
Devils.
The Red Devils slip to 11-13 overall and 4-4 in the conference.
They return home to face McDaniel College on Tuesday evening at
5:00 pm.
