(Carlisle, Pa.) - The Dickinson
College softball team swept a double-header from visiting
Muhlenberg on Thursday night, winning the opener, 3-1, and holding
on in the nightcap for a 2-1 victory. |
The Red Devils put a run on the board in the fourth inning
as Jess Haklar (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern
Lehigh) reached on an error and scored on a single
by Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair
Academy).
Melissa Osborn (Stevensonville, Md./Kent
Island) singled in the fourth and scored from second
when Haklar reached on another error.
Kyrie Budnik (Northampton, Pa./Northampton
Area) doubled to right center, moving Haklar to
third. Haklar came in with the Devils' third run on an RBI
by Erin King (Bowie, Md./Bowie).
Osborn went 3-for-3 while King and Budnik each finished 2-for-4
in game one.
Liz Barry (Millis, Mass./Noble &
Greenough) held the Mules to just five hits with six
strong innings to earn the win. Allison Jordan
(Medford, N.J./Shawnee) came on to strikeout the side
in the top of the seventh for the save.
Muhlenberg pushed a run across in the first inning of game two
after Ashley Brewer reached on an error and scored on a hit by Jess
Kasza.
The Red Devils capitalized early on a couple of Muhlenberg
miscues in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead. Sisco lined
a shot to the wall in right-center to score King
and Emma Murtaugh (Holmdel,
N.J./Holmdel).
That would be all the scoring in the nightcap as Jordan held the
Mules to just a pair of hits, recording eight strikeouts to improve
to 6-3 on the year.
Muhlenberg's Angie Sisco allowed just four hits in game two,
suffering the loss despite a solid effort.
The Red Devils improve to 13-14 overall and 6-3 in the
Centennial Conference. They travel to Washington College on
Saturday for a 1:00 double-header.
