(Chestertown, Md.) - The
Dickinson College softball team split a Centennial Conference
double-header at Washington College on Saturday. The Devils dropped
the opener, 6-2, but came back to win the nightcap 4-1. |
The Shorewomen capitalized on a Dickinson error to score an
unearned run in the second inning. Back-to-back doubles put
Washington in front, 2-0, in the third.
More Red Devil miscues in the fourth led to four more runs to
stretch the lead to 6-0. The Red Devils answered with two in the
fifth, but could come no closer, falling 6-2.
Kyrie Budnik (Northampton, Pa./Northampton
Area) led-off the game with a double and finished
2-for-4 in game one. Emma Murtaugh (Holmdel,
N.J./Holmdel) went 2-for-4 as well with a run
scored.
The Shorewomen pushed across a run in the first inning of game
two, but that would be all as senior Allison Jordan
(Medford, N.J./Shawnee) recorded 11 strikeouts to
earn the win.
The Devils tied the game in the third on an RBI single by
Budnik. She drove in two more in the sixth after
junior Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair
Academy) singled to score Mary Kate
Flannery (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) in the
fifth.
Budnik went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Ari Coulter
(Branford, Conn./Branford) scored a run and went
2-for-3 in the nightcap.Jess Haklar (Coopersburg,
Pa./Southern Lehigh) reached on an error and scored
twice while Sisco finished the game 2-for-4.
The Red Devils move to 14-15 overall and 7-5 in the Centennial
Conference. They return home to host McDaniel College on Tuesday at
5:00 pm.
