Jordan K's 11 as Devils Split at Washington

(Chestertown, Md.) - The Dickinson College softball team split a Centennial Conference double-header at Washington College on Saturday. The Devils dropped the opener, 6-2, but came back to win the nightcap 4-1.

The Shorewomen capitalized on a Dickinson error to score an unearned run in the second inning. Back-to-back doubles put Washington in front, 2-0, in the third.

More Red Devil miscues in the fourth led to four more runs to stretch the lead to 6-0. The Red Devils answered with two in the fifth, but could come no closer, falling 6-2.

Kyrie Budnik (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) led-off the game with a double and finished 2-for-4 in game one. Emma Murtaugh (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) went 2-for-4 as well with a run scored.

The Shorewomen pushed across a run in the first inning of game two, but that would be all as senior Allison Jordan (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) recorded 11 strikeouts to earn the win.

The Devils tied the game in the third on an RBI single by Budnik. She drove in two more in the sixth after junior Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair Academy) singled to score Mary Kate Flannery (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) in the fifth.

Budnik went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Ari Coulter (Branford, Conn./Branford) scored a run and went 2-for-3 in the nightcap.Jess Haklar (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) reached on an error and scored twice while Sisco finished the game 2-for-4.

The Red Devils move to 14-15 overall and 7-5 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to host McDaniel College on Tuesday at 5:00 pm.
