Red Devils Settle for Split with Green Terror

(Carlisle, Pa.) - The Dickinson College softball team split a Centennial Conference double-header with McDaniel College on Tuesday night. The Green Terror escaped a pitcher's duel in game one, posting a 1-0 win. The Red Devils avenged the loss with a 4-1 decision in the nightcap.

Sophomore Liz Barry (Millis, Mass./Noble & Greenough)allowed just three hits in game one, but McDaniel capitalized on an error and a double to score once in the fifth inning.

The would be the only run in the game as Erinne Warrenfeltz held the Devils to just three hits as well.

The Red Devils jumped on the board early in game two, scoring twice in the first and second innings on the way to a 4-1 decision.

Mary Kate Flannery (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) led-off the game with a single and moved to third on a double by Erin King (Bowie, Md./Bowie).

Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair Academy) and Kyrie Budnik (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) recorded RBIs in the inning to put the Devils up 2-0.

The Devils erupted with four hits in the second inning as Sisco tallied another RBI with a single down the left field line.

The Green Terror would cause some problems, loading the bases in the fourth inning. The Devils held the Terror to just one run as senior Allison Jordan (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) stranded three runners to close the door.

Budnik went 2-for-3, adding a double in the sixth inning. Flannery went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored on the night.

Jordan earned the win, recording five strikeouts in six-hit effort.

The Red Devils are home again on Saturday, hosting Franklin & Marshall at 1:00 pm.
