(Chestertown, Md.) - The
Dickinson College women's tennis team, ranked 16th in the ITA
Atlantic South Region, topped host Washington, ranked 18th, 5-4 on
Saturday. The win secures a Centennial Conference playoff bid for
the Red Devils. |
Senior Alex Bybel (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster
Mennonite)clinched the match for the Devils, winning the
fourth singles flight, 6-3, 1-6, 6-2.
She earned a point in doubles, capturing the third flight, 8-3,
with partner Carla Cox (Moorestown,
N.J./Moorestown).
First-years Alysia Rodgers (Bethesda, Md./Walter
Johnson)and Sarah Lindner (Warrenton,
Va./Wakefield) gave the Devils a 2-1 lead, claiming
an 8-4 decision in second doubles.
Lindner added a singles win in the sixth flight
and Sarah Woodward (Scarsdale,
N.Y./Eastchester) rallied for a win at third singles,
2-6, 6-4, 6-0.
The Red Devils improve to 12-5 overall and 7-2 in the Centennial
Conference. They return home to host Bryn Mawr on Tuesday before
heading to the conference playoffs next weekend.
