Red Devils Sweep Bullets in Centennial Double-Header

(Gettysburg, Pa.) - The Dickinson College softball team swept host Gettysburg in an always key Centennial Conference double-header on Tuesday. The Red Devils scored single runs in the four innings to claim the opener 4-2 and used strong start to win the nightcap, 6-3.

 

Junior Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair Academy) put the Devils on the board, reaching on a double and scoring on an error in the fourth. She added a run in the sixth and an RBI in the seventh, going 4-for-4 in the game.

 

Senior Erin King (Bowie, Md./Bowie) drove in a run with a triple in the fifth and doubled in the seventh, going 2-for-4. Kyrie Budnik (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) went 2-for-3 while first-year Rachel Jordan (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) went 2-for-4, adding an RBI.

 

Sophomore Liz Barry (Millis, Mass./Noble & Greenough)allowed just five hits, recording four strikeouts for a complete game win.

 

All the scoring in the nightcap came early for both teams as Dickinson scored two in the first behind a two-RBI single from Madison Gerish (Fairfield, N.J./Newark Academy).

 

The Bullets answered with three runs in the bottom of the first with the help of a two-run double from Kara Kempski.

 

The Devils capitalized on Bullet errors to score three unearned runs in the second and another in the third to take a 6-3 lead.

 

Senior pitcher Allison Jordan (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) closed the door from that point, with the help of solid defense, retiring 18 consecutive batters. She allowed five hits, all in the first inning, recording six strikeouts on the afternoon.

 

Emma Murtaugh (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a run scored and a double. Rachel Jordan went 2-for-4 again in game two while Jess Haklar (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) went 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and a run scored.

 

The Red Devils improve to 11-12 overall and 4-2 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to Ursinus College on Saturday for a 1:00 double-header with the Bears.
