(Severna Park, Md.) – The #16-ranked Dickinson College men's lacrosse team stormed out to a 6-0 lead at the end of the first quarter en route to a 15-7 win over #20-ranked St. Mary's College of Maryland.

First-year Brian Cannon (Reisterstown, Md./Loyola Blakefield) opened the gates, scoring two of the Devils' first four goals, all unassisted. He dished out an assist to Richard Craft (Newtown Square, Pa./Episcopal) for an extra-man goal before senior captain Pat Curley (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. St. Joseph) closed out the quarter with an unassisted goal with 14 seconds on the clock.

The Seahawks came alive in the second period, using a 5-1 run to pull within two, 7-5, at the 3:13 mark. First-year Brian Gleason (Darien, Conn./Darien) stopped the run, scoring on an assist from Matt Cherry (Radnor, Pa./Radnor) and long-stick middie Brandon Palladino (Basking Ridge, N.J./Basking Ridge) found the net to give Dickinson a 9-5 lead at halftime.

St, Mary's Billy Scheuer cut the margin to 9-6 early in the third period but Ward Gruppo (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) answered just 45 seconds later to stretch the lead back to four. Sam Greenberg (Owings Mills, Md./McDonogh) added another 45 second after that, with an assist from Kingsley to make the score, 11-6, with 8:50 to play in the third quarter.

St. Mary's capitalized on a Devil penalty to tally an extra-man goal at the 7:01 mark. That would be all the scoring for the Seahawks as the Dickinson defense and sophomore goaltender Greg Hanley (Laurel Hollow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) kept St. Mary's off the board for the final 22 minutes of the game.

Cannon struck with 3:59 to play in the third quarter, giving the Devils a 12-7 heading into the final period. Gruppo struck at the 12:51 mark while Kingsley dished out an assist to Cannon and netted a final tally for the Devils at the 1:13 mark.

Cannon led the way with four goals and an assist. Kingsley tallied a pair of goals and two assists while Gruppo and Curley each scored twice.

Peter Zouck (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) anchored a strong defensive effort, recording five ground balls. Nick Weaver (New York, N.Y./Millbrook School) was solid in the midfield with six GBs. Junior Chip Murray (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) won 8-of-14 face-offs. Hanley made some outstanding saves in the second half, finishing with 13 on the day.

Michael Mules led St. Mary's (0-2) with a pair of goals. Albert Mitchell won 8-of-17 face-offs and controlled six ground balls.

The Red Devils improve to 2-0 on the season. They travel to Montclair State University next Saturday for a 3:00 pm face-off.
