(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's tennis team suffered a 6-3 setback to Washington College in its Centennial Conference opener on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils captured the second and third doubles flights with identical 8-6 scores to lead the match 2-1. Washington captured five of the six singles flights to secure the match.
Senior Sarah Woodward (Scarsdale, N.Y./Eastchester) earned two points on the day, winning the fourth singles flight, (6-4, 6-2). She teamed with Leigh Oczkowski (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic) for the win in the third doubles flight. Oczkowski put of a strong fight in singles, falling 6-3, 7-5
Washington improves to 5-0 on the season and 1-0 in the conference. The Red Devils slip to 2-4 and 0-1 in the CC. Dickinson is home again on Wednesday, hosting Johns Hopkins at 3:30 pm.
