Boxscore vs. Ursinus

Boxscore vs. Muhlenberg

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College softball team went 1-1 on the opening day of the 2011 Centennial Conference softball championship at Dickinson Park. The top-seeded Red Devils opened with a 2-0 win over #4-seed Ursinus behind homeruns from seniors Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair Academy) and Emma Murtaugh (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel).

The Devils suffered a 1-0 setback to Muhlenberg in the winner's bracket game, and will face Ursinus again in an elimination game at 10:00 am on Sunday morning. Muhlenberg is in the driver's seat, posting an 8-4 win over Washington as well in the opener. The winner of Ursinus and Dickinson must defeat the Mules twice for the title.

Senior Allison Jordan (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) recorded 11 strikeouts in the opener against Ursinus, allowing just two hits to earn the complete game shutout, and win her 12th game of the year.

Sisco drove a shot of the left field wall for the second homerun of her career to put the Devils on the board in the fourth inning. Murtaugh launched one over the wall in almost the same location in the sixth for a 2-0 victory.

Jennilyn Weber scattered five hits, while striking out seven in the loss.

A pitcher's battle in game four led to a 1-0 win for Muhlenberg. Jordan struck out the first six batters and retired eight straight before Colleen O'Donnell went over the wall in the third inning for the lone run of the game.

Jordan finished with 11 strikeouts, an incredibly, allowed just two hits. That proved to be enough, however, as Ashley Brewer tossed a solid game, allowing just four hits to earn the win.

Kyrie Budnik (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) went 2-for-3 to lead the Red Devils at the plate while sophomore Bruke Mikesell (Columbia, Md./Howard) stepped in with a pinch-hit single.

The Red Devils stand at 19-16 overall. They will face Ursinus at 10:00 am for the right to face Muhlenberg for the title and the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
