Game 1 Boxscore

Game 2 Boxscore

(Carlisle, Pa.)  - The Dickinson College softball team had 10th-ranked Messiah in its sights on Wednesday night, but a seventh inning rally led the Falcons to a sweep with a 4-2 win in the nightcap. The Falcons struck early in game one, taking the opener, 6-2.

Three singles in the first inning led to Abi Buchler putting Messiah on the board. Buchler added an RBI in the second, driving in one of two Falcon runs to stretch the lead to 3-0. Sara Seneca reached on an error and came all the way around to credit Buchler with another RBI and give Messiah a 4-0 advantage.

Senior Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair Academy) singled and stole second in the bottom of the fourth. She came around to score on a double from sophomore Melissa Osborn (Stevensonville, Md./Kent Island).

Seneca doubled to lead off the sixth inning. She later came in to score the fifth run of the game for Messiah. The Devils added another in the bottom half of the inning as Carly Jordan (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) reached on an error and later came in off the bat of Madison Gerish (Fairfield, N.J./Newark Academy).

Lauren Seneca led-off the seventh with a double and came around on a single by Taylor Hatt. Jocelyn Hickey finished out the game with three straight outs to earn the win. Buchler and Jessica Rhoads each went 3-for-4 with Buchler adding a pair of RBIs.

Osborn led the Devils with an RBI double and a single.

Game two started as a pitcher's duel between Messiah's Sara Dietrich and senior Allison Jordan (Medford, N.J./Shawnee). Jordan suffered the loss but held the Falcons to just six hits while recording 11 strikeouts and allowing just one walk.

The Devils took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning as Carly Jordan single to start the inning. She was sacrificed to second by senior Emma Murtaugh (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel). Sisco doubled to the wall in left center to score Jordan and put the Devils up 1-0.

Messiah answered almost immediately, capitalizing on a Dickinson error in the top of the fifth. Ashley Lehman tripled in the run with a shot to right center. Murtaugh launched a bomb over the wall in center field to give the Devils the lead once again in the bottom of the sixth.

Messiah pushed across four runs behind four hits in the seventh. Sara Seneca drove in two runs with a single to give the Falcons a 4-2 lead.

The Devils were unable to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh as Messiah survived with a pair of wins to improve to 20-4 on the season.

Sisco went 2-for-3 in the nightcap with an RBI.  Dietrich earned the win for Messiah, improving to 7-0 on the year.

The Devils slip to 9-12 overall. They return to Centennial Conference action on Saturday, traveling to Washington College.
