(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's tennis team, ranked 13th in the Atlantic South Region, suffered a 6-3 setback to Haverford on Saturday.
The Devils trailed 2-1 after doubles with Dickinson claiming the third flight. Senior Sarah Woodward (Scarsdale, N.Y./Eastchester) and Leigh Oczkowski (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic) earned the point with an 8-0 decision.
Woodward earned her second point of the match with a 6-0, 6-3 win in the fourth singles flight. Classmate Carla Cox (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) won in the sixth flight, 6-2, 6-1.
Joelle Nitzberg (W. Windsor, N.J./W. Windsor Plainsboro S.) battled with Alexandra Ferrara in the second singles flight (6-3, 6-4). Ferrrara and doubles partner Katherine Wettick are ranked 15th in the region in doubles.
The Red Devils slip to 6-6 overall and 4-3 in the Centennial Conference. Haverford improves to 12-2 and 5-2 in the CC. The Red Devils host Swarthmore College next Saturday at 1:00 pm.
