(Lake Myrtle, Fla.) – The Dickinson College baseball team split a twin-bill with St. Norbert on Friday to close out its spring break schedule. The Red Devils won the opener, 9-3, but suffered an 11-7 setback in game two.
Andrew Sterling (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) led-off with a single in the first, stole second and scored on an RBI single from Tyler Rosa' (Carmel, Calif./Stevenson School) to put the Devils on the board.
Matt Vidal (Bronx, N.Y./All Hallows) was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored off the bat of Rosa' in the third inning. Garrett Horan (Providence, R.I./Moses Brown) doubled to score Sterling to stretch the lead to 3-0 at the end of the third.
Rosa' knocked-in two more runs with a double to highlight a four-run fourth inning. Jordan Kaufman (Somerset, Pa./Somerset Area) and Zee Crawford (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) doubled and scored in the inning as well.
St. Norbert scored twice in the fifth an added another in the sixth before the Devils tacked on two in the bottom of the sixth for the final of 9-3. The Devils capitalized on five walks and a hit batter for their two runs in the sixth.
Rosa' drove in four runs, going 2-for-2. Joe Tursi (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) went 3-for-4 with a run scored.
First-year Harley Moore (Deltaville, Va./Middlesex) earned the win, throwing five innings and striking out five batters. Mitch Helmandollar (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) came on to record three strikeouts in two innings of relief.
St. Norbert scored two runs in each of the first two innings of game two before the Red Devils answered with three runs in the top of the third inning. Rosa' drove in two runs with a double. Joseph Martinez (Brooklyn, N.Y./Berkeley Carroll) doubled to lead-off the inning. He went 3-for-3 in the nightcap.
The Devils tied the game with a run in the sixth. The Green Knights answered with seven runs in the bottom of the inning to lead 11-4.
Sterling doubled to start the seventh and scored on Horan's second RBI of the game. Jordan Kaufman (Somerset, Pa./Somerset Area) and Matt Tuneski (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) added RBIs in the inning, but the Devils fell short, 11-7.
Sam Wachs (Severna Park, Md./Severn School) added a pair of hits in game two. Horan went 3-for-4 and Kaufman finished the nightcap, 2-for-3.
Ryan Kramer (New Vernon, N.J./Morristown Beard) suffered the loss on the mound, recording five strikeouts.
The Red Devils (9-5) return north to host Penn State Harrisburg on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 pm.
