(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team turned in a strong performance against the #1-ranked team in the nation, falling to Johns Hopkins, 6-3, on Wednesday afternoon.
Senior Alysia Rodgers (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) and junior Shannon Lavery (Huntington, W. Va./Huntington) combined for all three Red Devil points. The duo captured the top doubles flight, 8-4, and posted wins at first and second singles.
Rodgers topped Andrea Berlinghof (6-4,6-2) while Lavery claimed the second flight (6-4, 6-3).
First-year Sydney Diamond (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) put up a battle in the third flight before falling (6-3, 6-2) and Madeline Altholtz (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) also played well in a (6-3, 6-4) setback in the four spot.
The Red Devils, slip to 2-7 overall and 1-1 in the Centennial Conference. They are home again on Saturday, hosting Ursinus College at 1:00 pm.
