Red Devil Women Win Fifth Straight Conference Match

 

 

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team posted a 6-3, Centennial Conference win over Haverford College, ranked 11th in the Atlantic South Region on Saturday.

 

The Red Devils have won five straight matches and six of their last seven to even their overall record at 7-7. They also improved to 6-1 in the Centennial Conference.

 

Dickinson started strong, sweeping doubles to take a 3-0 lead. Alysia Rodgers (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) and Shannon Lavery (Huntington, W. Va./Huntington) earned the point at the top doubles position, and Lavery rebounded after the first set to win the second singles flight (0-6, 6-3, 7-6).

 

First-year Sydney Diamond (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) claimed the third flights in singles (6-2, 7-6) and doubles, joining Sarah Cantor (Providence, R.I./The Wheeler School) for an 8-6 win.

 

Madeline Altholtz (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) added two points on the day, winning the fifth singles flight (6-4, 7-6), and second doubles with Dominique Hedderich (Walton, Neb./Choate Rosemary Hall), 9-7.

 

The Red Devils return home for another big match next Saturday, hosting Swarthmore College at 1:00 pm.
