(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team suffered just its second loss in Centennial Conference play, falling to visiting Swarthmore, 9-0, on Saturday. The Garnet improved to 8-0 in the conference and 11-2 overall, holding the #8-ranking in the Atlantic South Region poll.
Junior Shannon Lavery (Huntington, W. Va./Huntington) won her first set but suffered a 0-6, 6-4, 10-4 setback to Emily Rosenblum in the second singles flight. She joined senior Alysia Rodgers (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) for a tough match in the top doubles flight, falling 8-6.
Madeline Altholtz (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) and Dominique Hedderich (Walton, Neb./Choate Rosemary Hall) battled in the seconds doubles position, also falling 8-6.
The Red Devils slip to 7-8 overall and 6-2 in the Centennial Conference. They will look to regroup when they travel to Franklin & Marshall next Thursday for a 4:00 pm start.
