Devil Women Blank Bryn Mawr for Fourth Conference Win

 

 

(Bryn Mawr, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team swept Bryn Mawr, 9-0, to improve to 4-1 in Centennial Conference play on Saturday.

 

Dickinson opened a 3-0 lead after doubles, claiming all three matches, (8-2, 8-5, 8-1), and winning all six singles flights in straight sets.

 

Senior Alysia Rodgers (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) and junior Shannon Lavery (Huntington, W. Va./Huntington) captured first doubles and claimed the top two singles flights. Rodgers posted 6-1, 6-2 victory while Lavery went 6-2, 6-1 in her match.

 

First-year Sydney Diamond (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) earned the point at third singles (6-1, 6-0), and teamed with Sarah Cantor (Providence, R.I./The Wheeler School) for an 8-1 decision in the third doubles flight.

 

Madeline Altholtz (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) and Dominique Hedderich (Walton, Neb./Choate Rosemary Hall) posted the 8-5 win in doubles while Altholtz dropped just one game in her singles win in the fifth flight (6-1, 6-0).

 

Ilana Unger (Boulder, Colo./Dawson School) and Cantor closed out the match with wins in the fourth and sixth singles flights, respectively.

 

The Red Devils improve to 5-7 overall, in addition to their 4-1 mark in the CC. They travel to Gettysburg on Tuesday for a 4:00 pm match with the Bullets.
