(Haverford, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team suffered just its second Centennial Conference loss, falling to #10-regionally ranked Haverford College, 5-4, on Saturday.
The 'Fords claimed first and second doubles to take a 2-1 lead into singles. First-year Madison Parks (Denton, Md./North Caroline) and Sarah Cantor (Providence, R.I./The Wheeler School) captured the third doubles flight, 8-6.
Senior Shannon Lavery (Huntington, W. Va./Huntington) avenged an 8-5 setback in the top doubles spot with a win at #1-singles. She outlasted Caitlin Gallagher, 12-10, in a third set tie-breaker.
Madeline Altholtz (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) came out on top of a three-set battle in the third flight, winning (6-4, 5-7, 10-6). First-year Claire Stoner (Shelburne, Vt./Champlain Valley Union) added the Devils' fourth point with a straight set win in the sixth flight (6-3, 6-2).
The Red Devils slip to 6-6 overall and 5-2 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to Swarthmore College next Saturday for a 1:00 pm match with the Garnet.
