(Swarthmore, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team turned in some strong individual performances, but fell at Swarthmore, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Shannon Lavery (Huntington, W. Va./Huntington) dropped a three-set battle with Lia Carlson in the top singles flight, (6-1, 5-7, 10-6). Carlson added a win in doubles, joining Alli Wong for an 8-5 decision over Lavery and Madeline Altholtz (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset).
Wong claimed the second singles flight with a (6-3, 4-6, 10-7) win over sophomore Sydney Diamond (Westford, Mass./Westford).
First-year Madison Parks (Denton, Md./North Caroline) continued her strong rookie campaign, winning the fourth singles flight, 6-1, 6-0.
Joana Nunes (Carcavelos, Portugal/St. Julian's) went three sets before suffering a (6-2, 2-6, 7-5) decision in the fifth flight.
Swarthmore improves to 7-7 overall and 6-1 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils slip to 7-7 overall and 5-3 in the CC. Dickinson returns home to face Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday at 3:30 pm.
