(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team turned in another strong performance, improving to 5-1 in the Centennial Conference with a 7-2 win, over visiting Gettysburg College on Wednesday afternoon.
Senior Shannon Lavery (Huntington, W. Va./Huntington) led the way once again, posting a pair of wins in the top doubles and singles flights. She claimed a straight set victory in singles, (6-0, 6-0).
Lavery joined classmate Madeline Altholtz (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) for an 8-2 decision the top doubles spot. Altholtz had another strong match in singles as well, claiming the third flight,( 6-0, 6-1).
The Red Devils swept the final three singles flights as they improve to 6-5 on the season. First-year Madison Parks (Denton, Md./North Caroline) went (6-0, 6-1) in win the fourth, while classmates Joana Nunes (Carcavelos, Portugal/St. Julien's) and Claire Stoner (Shelburne, Vt./Champlain Valley Union) added identical, (6-1, 6-0), straight set wins in the fifth and sixth flights.
Parks and Cantor added a win at third doubles, winning that flight, 8-2.
The Red Devils are home again on Thursday, hosting Goucher College in a non-conference match at 3:30 pm.
