(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team had a tough outing against Haverford College on Saturday, falling 9-0 to the visiting 'Fords.
Haverford jumped out to a 3-0 start, but had to earn the wins. Joana Nunes (Carcavelos, Portugal/St. Julian's School) and Madison Parks (Denton, Md./North Caroline) dropped the top flight, 8-4, while senior Sarah Cantor (Providence, R.I./The Wheeler School) and Stuart Lemay (Harwich Port, Mass./Westover) suffered a 9-7 setback.
First-years Emily Sprague (South Burlington, Vt./Bluffton) and Elizabeth Marin (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) battled in the third flight, but fell, 8-6.
The 'Fords swept the singles matches in straight sets. Parks claimed four games in the second flight while Cantor battled at #4, 6-1, 6-4. Sprague suffered a 6-2, 6-3 setback in the #5 spot.
The Red Devils slip to 3-6 overall and 2-3 in the Centennial Conference. Haverford improves to 12-3 and 5-2 in the CC. The Red Devils travel to the University of Mary Washington on Wednesday for a 3:30 pm match.
