Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson field hockey team turned in an outstanding performance from start to finish on Friday afternoon, posting a 6-1 win over visiting Lynchburg College.
Senior Catherine Perlmutter (Blue Bell, Pa./Germantown Academy) tallied a natural hat-trick to tie the all-time goal scoring record at Dickinson, netting the 45th of her career. She also handed out an assist to move into a tie for second in career assists with 20.
The Red Devils struck early, scoring twice in the opening seven minutes of the contest. Sophomore Chelsea Kramer (New Vernon, N.J./Morristown Beard) put Dickinson on the board, finishing on a nice cross from first-year Mia Scott (Mount Laurel, N.J./Holy Cross), with just 5:37 off the clock.
The Devils scored another less than two minutes later as Perlmutter sent a shot into the circle and Scott redirected it into the cage to put the Devils up 2-0.
Lynchburg countered with a quick goal to cut the deficit to 2-1 as Nicole Simpao fired a hard shot from the top of the circle, just 38 seconds later.
Perlmutter stretched the lead to 3-1, as Kramer flicked an entry pass to Perlmutter, right in front of the net for her first goal of the game. Perlmutter capitalized on a penalty stroke with a shot to the upper corner with no time remaining in the first half to make the score, 4-1.
Perlmutter made it a natural hat-trick, scoring just under six minutes into the second half and Kramer closed out the scoring with another nice finish with just over 21 minutes remaining in the game.
The Red Devils dominated play for the better part of the match, but Lynchburg continued to remain competitive, right down to the final horn.
Junior Kim Monteferante (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Lakeland) was outstanding on the defensive end, recording a defensive save. She received strong support from senior Merritt Davis (Baltimore, Md./Garrison Forest) and Delaney Ahn (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus).
Junior Danielle Schwab (Highland, Md./River Hill) gave the Red Devils solid defense and helped in transition with strong play in the midfield.
Junior goalkeeper Freddie Bancroft (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) made four saves on the day before first-year Heather Meeder (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) came on to made three saves.
Beka Hess made seven saves for Lynchburg at the Hornets fall to 5-5 on the season.
The Red Devils improve to 7-4 overall. They are home again tomorrow, hosting Bryn Mawr College on Senior Day at 1:00 pm.
