(Chestertown, Md.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback in its Centennial Conference opener on Saturday afternoon at Washington College.
Junior Joana Nunes (Carcavelos, Portugal/St. Julien's School) and classmate Madison Parks (Denton, Md./North Caroline) played to an 8-4 decision in the second doubles flight.
Sophomore Lauren Altschuler (Malvern, Pa./Eastern) had a strong start, but fell in the top singles flight, 6-4, 6-2. Senior Sydney Diamond (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) looked to force a third set in her match, but suffered a 6-2, 7-5 loss in the number three spot.
The Red Devils slip to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the Centennial Conference. Washington improved to 4-1 and 1-0 in the CC. Dickinson is on the road again on Wednesday, traveling to Johns Hopkins University for a 4:00 pm start in Baltimore.
