(Haverford, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team won a thrilling match at Haverford College, posting a 5-4 decision as junior Madison Parks (Denton, Md./North Caroline) clinched the match with a (4-6, 6-3, 6-3) win the third singles spot.
Haverford captured the top two doubles flights to lead 2-1. Sophomores Jaclyn Baum (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) and Elizabeth Marin (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) earned a critical point with a win in the third flight, 9-8 (8-6).
Haverford claimed the top two singles flights as well, but the Red Devils answered with four wins in the second through sixth flights. Marin won the fifth, (6-1, 6-2) for her second point of the match.
Joana Nunes (Carcavelos, Portugal/St. Julien's School) and Lydia Fox (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Arlington) won in straight sets to pull Dickinson even before Parks closed out the match.
The Red Devils, ranked 18th in the latest ITA Atlantic South Region poll, improve to 7-3 overall and 4-2 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to host Bryn Mawr on Sunday at 11:00 am and Franklin & Marshall on Thursday afternoon at 3:30 pm.
