(Swarthmore, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision at Swarthmore in a match-up of regionally ranked teams. The Garnet, ranked 13th, improved to 8-5 overall and 7-1 in the Centennial Conference with the win.
Juniors Joana Nunes (Carcavelos, Portugal/St. Julien's School) and Madison Parks (Denton, Md./North Caroline) earned the Devils' first point, winning second doubles with a decisive 8-1 performance.
Nunes earned her second point of the day with a (6-3, 6-1) win in the third singles flight. Parks won the opening set in the second flight before Alli Wong battled back to win in three sets (4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-6)).
First-year Lydia Fox (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Arlington) put up a fight in the fifth flight as well, dropping a highly contested match, (6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7).
The Red Devils, ranked 18th in the Atlantic South Region, slip to 8-5 overall and 5-4 in the conference. They return home to host Muhlenberg College next Saturday at 1:00 pm.
