Kueny Walk-Off Leads Devils Past Albright 4-3

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson softball team rallied twice, finally overtaking Regionally-ranked Albright College, 4-3, in eight innings on Tuesday night at Dickinson Park.

The Lions put the first two batters on base in the top of the fourth and scored a pair of runs on a sacrifice fly from Sammi O'Connor and an RBI single by Stephanie Pomante.

The Red Devils answered in the fifth, scoring twice with two outs. First-year Killian Kueny (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) singled and classmate Rachel Brenowitz (Germantown, Md./Clarksburg) reached on a walk. They both got a big jump with two outs as junior Nicole Torlincasi (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) dropped a single into center field to drive in both runs to tie the game.

The international tie-breaker came into effect in the top of the eighth inning with Kelly Cembrale starting on second base. She capitalized on an error to come around and put Albright in front, 4-3.

The Red Devils would capitalize on a pair of Albright errors in bottom half of the inning. Torlincasi started on second and on moved to third on a sacrifice bunt from Michelle Orden (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack).

Nicole Piet (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) reached on an error to drive in Torlincasi to pull the Devils even. Grace Edelson (Basking Ridge, N.J./Villa Walsh) hit into an error in left and Casey Ditzler (Cleona, Pa./Annville-Cleona) drew a walk to load the bases.

Kueny, who came on to pitch in relief, earned herself the win, driving a walk-off single into the left field to score Piet for the 4-3 decision.

Kueny combined with starter Madison Milaszewski (Rutland, Mass./Sutton) to allow just four hits on the night. Kueny went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and the game-winning RBI. Torlincasi tallied two RBIs while Piet reached twice and added a sacrifice bunt.

Albright slips to 24-14 overall while the Red Devils improved to 15-22 overall. Due to a scheduling conflict, Albright was only able to play one game on Tuesday night.

Dickinson is scheduled to travel to the top-ranked team in the region, Messiah College on Tuesday for a 3:30 pm start. The Falcons are ranked 16th in the latest national coaches poll.
