(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson softball team dropped a pair of games at Gettysburg on Friday afternoon as the Bullets won the opener, 5-2, and claimed the nightcap, 8-2.
The Red Devils struck first in game one as junior Nicole Torlincasi (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) reached on a single and came in off the bat of senior Grace Edelson (Basking Ridge, N.J./Villa Walsh).
The Bullets pulled even with one in the bottom of the first and stretched the lead to 4-1 in the second on a three-run homer by Jamie Abel.
Edelson launched a solo homerun over the centerfield wall to cut the deficit to 4-2 in the fourth. Wendy Folfas doubled and scored in the fifth for the final of 5-2.
The Red Devils had a similar start in game two as Torlincasi singled to lead-off things off and this time scored on an RBI single from Edelson.
Gettysburg tallied four unearned runs in the third inning behind a two-RBI double from Steph Zengel.
Alicia Lane (Bolton, Mass./Garaway) drew a lead-off walk in the fifth and stole second. She came in to score as Torlincasi doubled to left. The Bullets pushed across four runs in the bottom of the fifth as Stephanie Leonardo was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Jessica Casale cleared the bases with a three-RBI double.
Morgan Clauser improved to 8-0 on the season, scattering four hits as Gettysburg improved to 18-4 overall and 5-1 in the Centennial Conference.
Torlincasi went 3-for-4 in the nightcap, scoring once and adding an RBI. The Red Devils slip to 6-18 overall and 3-5 in the CC.
The Red Devils were scheduled to host Washington College on Saturday, but that double-header has been postponed to Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm.
