#13 Ranked Blue Jays Claim CC Opener

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 setback to #13-ranked Johns Hopkins University in the Centennial Conference opener on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Lauren Altschuler (Malvern, Pa./Eastern) and first-year Olivia Shea (West Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) battled to an 8-6 setback in the second doubles flight, but the Blue Jays would capture the doubles flights for a 3-0 lead.

Sophomore Lydia Fox (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Arlington) claimed the point for the Red Devils, winning in singles, 6-2, 6-1.

Seniors Joana Nunes (Carcavelos, Portugal/St. Julian's School) and Madison Parks (Denton, Md./North Caroline) played well in the second and third singles flights, and played to an 8-3 setback in the top doubles spot.

The Blue Jays improve to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference while the Red Devils slip to 1-4 and 0-1. The Red Devils are home again on Thursday, hosting Juniata College at 4:00 pm.
