#8 Ranked Swarthmore Tops Women's Tennis

(Swarthmore, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 setback at Swarthmore College on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet, ranked 40th-nationally and eighth in the Atlantic South Region, improved to 2-0 in Centennial Conference play.

The Red Devils battled in the top two doubles flight with Madison Parks (Denton, Md./North Caroline) and Joana Nunes (Carcavelos, Portugal/St. Julian's School) falling 8-6 while Lauren Altschuler (Malvern, Pa./Eastern) and first-year Olivia Shea (West Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) dropped a tough, 8-5 decision in the second.

Nunes earned the point for the Red Devils, winning the third singles flight (6-3, 6-3). Jaclyn Baum (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) and Lydia Fox (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Arlington) had strong matches in the fifth and sixth flights as well.

The Red Devils slip to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference. They are scheduled to travel to Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday for a 4:00 pm start.
