(Huntingdon, Pa.) – The Dickinson softball team split a non-conference double-header at Juniata College on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles won the opener, 4-0, with the Red Devils taking the nightcap, 3-0.
Juniata would claim the opener behind a two-hit shutout from Anna Baran. The Eagles struck twice in the second inning as Kerigan Ammerman led-off with a double and scored on a double from Alyssa Shedlock.
Shedlock came in to score from third on a double-steal to stretch the lead to 2-0. Shedlock would double again in the sixth inning and pinch-runner Amy Chen scored on an RBI from Abby Albright.
Albright came in to score on a single from Jennifer Carthew to put the Eagles up, 4-0.
Alicia Lane (Bolton, Mass./Garaway) doubled and drew walk to lead the Devils at the plate. First-year Alissa Lema (Lutherville, Md./Towson) added a hit as well. Sophomore Killian Kueny (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) scattered seven hits and struck out three in the opener.
The Red Devils battled through a scoreless five innings in game two before jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the top of sixth and adding a pair of insurance runs on a two-run homer from junior Nicole Clayton (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) in the seventh.
First-year Kat Parise (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) went 2-for-4 in game two, scoring in the sixth, while Maureen Moroz (Hatfield, Pa./Pope John Paul II) added a hit and scored as well.
Sophomore Madison Milaszewski (Rutland, Mass./Sutton) went the distance to earn the win in the nightcap, allowing just five hits and recording four strikeouts.
The Red Devils move to 8-18 on the season. They return to Centennial Conference action on Friday, traveling to Washington College for a 3:00 pm double-header.
