(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson softball team turned in a pair of strong performances but suffered two tough setbacks to Franklin & Marshall. The Diplomats were scheduled to be the home team but field conditions moved the game to Carlisle.

F&M was still the host, hitting in the bottom half of the inning and slipping away with the opener, 1-0, in the eighth. They scored twice in the first inning of game two to claim the nightcap, 2-0.

Izzy Schaefer pitched both ends of the double-header, recording seven strikeouts in the opener while going 2-for-2 at the plate.

Junior Madison Milaszewski (Rutland, Mass./Sutton) battled with Schaefer the entire way before suffering the loss in the circle.

First-year Brigitte Gutpelet (Norristown, Pa./Penn Charter) led-off game one with a double and added a single to go 2-for-4. Sophomore Kat Parise (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) went 2-for-2 while Jessica Epstein (Madison, N.J./Madison) added a hit as well.

Sammy Burns singled in the eighth and pinch runner Gabby Goodwin moved to third on a sacrifice bunt. The Diplomats plated the game-winner on a single from Katie Wenger to take the opener.

Sam Clemens and Lexi Piccinich each singled and scored in the first inning of game two before both teams were held scoreless for the remainder of the night as each pitcher allowed just six hits.

The Red Devils had some solid at-bats in the nightcap as Gutpelet added a triple while Maggie McConney (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) went 2-for-4 with a double. First-year Kristen Acocella (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) added a double as well.

The Red Devils slip to 10-10 overall and 1-3 in the Centennial Conference. They are scheduled to travel to Gettysburg College on Sunday for 1:00 pm double-header.
