Red Devils Drop Strong Outings to Close Out Break

(Tucson, Ariz.) – The Dickinson softball team continued to play well but suffered a pair of tough decisions on Friday to close out its spring break schedule.

Millikan University scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to overtaking the Red Devils who led 2-0, heading into the final frame. Buena Vista scored twice in the first inning and added two in the fifth to post a 4-2 decision in the nightcap.

The Red Devils put a run on the board in the second inning to get things started against Millikan. Marissa Fabbo (Wilbraham, Mass./Wilbraham & Munson) singled and came around to score on a double from Hannah Brenner (Stafford, Va./Mountain View).

Dickinson doubled its lead in the third as Maggie McConney (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) drove in Kristen Acocella (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow), who singled to lead off the inning.

Millikan came alive in seventh, loading the bases with a single, double and a bunt. That set the stage for a two-RBI single from Bailey Gowin and a walk-off base-hit by Taylor Jordan for the 3-2 decision.

Brenner went 2-for-3 at the plate while Madison Milaszewski (Rutland, Mass./Sutton) recorded four strikeouts in the circle.

Buena Vista scored a pair of unearned runs in the first inning, capitalizing off an error on a double-steal and singles from Kaylee Archibeque and Taylor Frain.

The Red Devils got one back in the bottom of the first, scoring off a two-out walk to Hannah Seburn (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) with the bases loaded.

Julie Siecinski (Edison, N.J./JP Stevens) doubled to lead-off the third inning and scored on a single from Paige Hahn (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) to tie the game.

Archibeque tripled to score Carlee Guyett and came in on a sacrifice fly to put Buena Vista in front 4-2.

Marissa Promes and Peyton Gross combined to throw a three-hitter and record eight strikeouts.

Siecinski led the Red Devils with the double and two runs scored. Killian Kueny (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) went five innings, recording three strikeouts. Kat Vill (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) came on to allow one hit and tally three strikeouts in the final two innings.

The Red Devils move to 3-5. They return north and are scheduled to host Elizabethtown College on Monday at 5:00 pm.
