SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's tennis team fought hard but was not able to overcome a very good Swarthmore College side as the Garnet picked up an 8-1 win on Saturday afternoon in the Centennial Conference opener for both sides.
Doubles (Swarthmore 3-0)
The top DC pair of Martine Fierro and Ariana Goitz battled as tough as they could, but ultimately fell 8-5 to Erica Stutz and Sonia Varma. Izzy Desjardins and Lexi Epstein dropped an 8-2 decision to Nathalie Williams and Crystal Xu, while Anabelle Armendarez and Molly Michel suffered an 8-0 defeat at the third slot.
Singles (Swarthmore 5-1)
At the number one spot Fierro went the distance against Jenny Lewis en route to a 6-7, 7-6, 10-8 victory. Ariana Goitz, Dana Kleinman, Armendarez, and Epstein each took one game off of their opponent, while Melissa Abbott was kept off the scoreboard by Spencer Watts.
