CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's tennis team continued Centennial Conference play on Wednesday afternoon with a home match against the local rival Franklin & Marshall College Diplomats at the Hays Tennis Courts. Unfortunately for the Red and White the visitors showcased depth all throughout their lineup as they picked up a 7-2 win.
Doubles (F&M 2-1)
Dickinson got off to a good start with a win at first doubles from Martine Fierro and Ariana Goitz by a margin of 8-6 over Jenna Harrison and Mackenzie Sherman. The third doubles team of Melissa Abbott and Dana Kleinman fought hard as well but came up short of Kayley Burke and Caroline Ulrich 8-4. The duo of Izzy Desjardins and Lexi Epstein could only take one game from Cassidy Landau and Sammi Perry in an 8-1 setback.
Singles (F&M 5-1)
Fierro continued her strong day by knocking off Landau in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 at number one singles. The other five matches went the way of the visiting Diplomats as Molly Michel and Epstein were each able to take three games off of Hayley Bidwell and Perry. At third singles, Goitz earned a game against Harrison, but ultimately fell 6-1, 6-0. The fourth and sixth singles players Anabelle Armendarez and Desjardins were held off the scoreboard by their opposition.
