Box Score HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Dickinson women's tennis team continued their winning ways in a big way on Monday night when they stormed past Webster University by a score of 7-2 at the Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Club.
Doubles (DEVILS 2-1)
Dickinson began the match down 1-0 as the second pair of
Sara Jaklitsch and
Dana Kleinman came up short against Navone Armstrong and Kylie Chitwood by a score of 8-2. The Red and White then drew level with
Alisa Steele and
Bonnie Thomas bringing down Bailey Higgins and Maddie Mena 8-4 in the top spot. The third duo of
Maddie Lindquist and
Molly Michel holding off Bailee Pineda and Evie Schuetz in a tiebreaker 7-3 to claim the point.Â
Singles (DEVILS 5-1)
Steele collected her second win of the day at number one singles by blanking Higgins (6-0, 6-0). Michel then found her way into the win column in the three slot with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Mena. The first match to need a super tiebreaker was the second singles bout between Chitwood and Thomas as they traded the first two sets, before the Gorlok earned a 10-5 win. The fifth and sixth matches saw the Devils nab a pair of straight set victories thanks to Kleinman (6-2, 7-5) and Jaklitsch (6-3, 6-2). Katharine van Kestern rounded out the DC dominance in singles with an 11-9 triumph in a super tiebreaker against Armstrong to secure the 7-2 victory.
The Next Serve
Dickinson (4-1) will take a day off, before returning to action on Wednesday when they take on the Cardinals of Catholic University beginning at high noon on the Chaplin Park courts.
