CARLISLE, Pa. - The visiting Messiah University pounded out 14 hits en route to plating 16 runs on Tuesday afternoon as they defeated the Dickinson baseball team by a score of 16-4 at MacPhail Field.
Quick Notes
Final Score - Falcons 16, DEVILS 4
Records - Dickinson (2-4) | Messiah (2-6)
Pitching Decision - W - Zachary Harris (1-1) | L -
Sam Bliss (0-1)
- Dickinson starter Sam Bliss ran into some early issues as two walks with one out set the stage for Evan Wagaman to single into center for a 1-0 lead. Dylan Beard followed with a two-run single to left pushing it to 3-0 after a half.
- The Red and White immediately responded as Zachary Harris drilled Dylan Posencheg and allowed a single to Kaden Sigmon to place two on with no outs. Ryan Thompson then knocked a two-run single up the box to trim it down to 3-2. However, Dickinson could produce no more damage and the game went to the second at 3-2.
- Bliss allowed two of the first four batters to reach leaving two on, but with two away. A free pass to Drew Hurst loaded the cushions for Wagaman who continued his fantastic afternoon with a bases-clearing two-bagger to deep right center. That signaled the end of the day for Bliss as Dylan Robinson entered the game, but he would concede an RBI double to Beard pushing it to 7-2.Â
- The Falcons would add another one as three singles resulted in men at the corners for Isaiah Parido who legged out an infield knock driving home one to make it 8-2.

Â
- Messiah stretched it out to 10-2 when a one-out single for Wagaman led to Beard planting the Robinson pitch over the wall in right-center.
- Dickinson would use a little two-out rally during the home-half to dig into the deficit a little bit as Ethan Sodl reached on an error and Sigmon was plunked by Harris placing two on for Thompson. He would be safe on the third Falcon error of the frame, while the resulting errant throw from second base allowed two to score pulling it within 10-4.
- Nathan Bowman replaced Robinson to begin the top-half allowed two (12-4) in the frame thanks to two walks, an error and a hit batter.Â
- Drew Norton went to the hill, but a walk, hit batter and single loaded the bases for Wagaman. He would ground out to allowing one to race home, before an error with Beard at the dish let two more come in to make it 15-4.
- The Devils fifth error of the game let Jarrett Gordon reach to start the frame which was immediately followed by a RBI single to right off the stick of Landon Mark.
- A double for Kevin Schmidt and walk to Kyle Bailey gave to Dickinson something to work with, but back-to-back groundouts ended the inning and the game.
