Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. - For the first time since the 2015-2016 season the Dickinson women's tennis team is heading to the Centennial Conference Tournament. The Red and White locked up their place on Thursday afternoon after blasting the host Muhlenberg College by a score of 7-0 in a neat and tidy 72 minutes at the Kern Field Courts.
Doubles (DEVILS 3-0)
It was all Dickinson from the start as the teams of
Jenna Crain-
Natasha Sharnoff and
Izzy Desjardins-
Chloe Heller each rolled to 6-0 victories at the first and second spots respectively. The Red and White finished off a perfect doubles with the squad of
Anabelle Armendarez and
Loretta Szych collecing a win via a forfeit as the Mules only had five active players on the day.
Singles (DEVILS 6-0)
Dickinson only lost two games on the day as a trio of matches ended in 6-0, 6-0 straight set wins courtesy of Crain (1st), Szych (4th) and Armendarez (5th) defeating Caitlin Bestrycki, Alexandra Downey and Lauryn Glass. On the two line, Sharnoff allowed Jordyn Brown to nab a game in the first set before putting away the second 6-0. Heller playing at three posted an identical result versus Alexandra Roehl (6-1, 6-0). The Devils rounded out the match taking a forfeit win in the sixth flight with Desjardins being awarded the triumph.
Next on the Court
Dickinson (11-6, 4-4 Centennial) will enter next week's Centennial Conference Tournament as the number five seed and will await to see who lands on the four line as the two teams will square off on Wednesday at a time to be announced. Currently, the most likely opponents would be either Washington (Md.) or Franklin and Marshall. The Red and White gave both teams good matchups during the season falling to WAC 3-4 in Carlisle at the end of March and going down to F&M 2-5 just yesterday at the Hays Tennis Courts.Â
