MADISON, N.J. - The Dickinson women's tennis team got the 2026 portion of their schedule underway on Sunday afternoon with a pair of non-conference matchups at the Drew Tennis Center on the campus of Drew University. First, the Red and White suffered their first loss of the season falling 7-0 to The College of New Jersey, before knocking off the host Rangers by the same scoreline.
Match One - Lions 7, DEVILS 0
Doubles (Lions 1-0 | Doubles count for one point)
The top pair of
Jenna Crain and
Merve Uyumazturk fought hard against Zoey Albert and Shruti Mannan, but came up on the wrong side of a 6-4 decision.
Natasha Sharnoff along with her partner
Alisa Steele notched one game from their opponents in a 6-1 defeat, while
Chloe Heller and
Loretta Szych dropped their match 6-0 on the three line.
Singles (Lions 6-0 | All matches one set played to eight games)
Sharnoff at number three won the most games for the Devils picking up five off of Gabrielle Brideau. A spot prior to her was where Steele nabbed four games from Albert, while in the top slot Crain took three from Eleni Dakos. The pair of Uyumazturk (4th) and Heller (5th) were each able to win a pair of games from Mannan and Gabriella Robinson respectively. Szych rounded out the competing Devils, but was not able to collect a game from Elizabeth Ring as she finished off the Lions shutout.
Match Two - DEVILS 7, Rangers 0
Doubles (DEVILS 3-0 | Doubles count for one point)
The third duo of Heller and Szych left little to the imagination in their match as they posted a 6-0 win. Sharnoff and Steele allowed one game to the Nicole Kalorin-Riley Roesel pair, while at the top of ladder Crain and Uyumazturk were in a "neck and neck" battle with Madison Williams and Natalia Zamora coming away with the 7-5 victory.
Singles (DEVILS 6-0 | All matches one set played to eight games)
Dickinson had full control from the start as Heller playing at four posted an 8-0 victory over Williams. After player in the two slot in the previous match, Steele knocked off Zamora in a convincing 8-1 fashion. Just below her was Sharnoff who bested Roesel 8-1, while on the three line Uyumazturk held off Kalorin 8-2.
Sara Jaklitsch gave up four to Kapriana Payami and Szych allowed her opponent Danielle Pettoni six games, but both matches ended with the Devil coming out on top.
