LANCASTER, Pa. - Dickinson women's tennis first-year athlete
Merve Uyumazturk was rewarded for her strong performance on the court by being selected as the Centennial Conference Player of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday morning.
The native of McLean, Virginia, had a memorable Centennial Conference debut on Saturday against Washington College in Chestertown. First, she and her doubles partner
Jenna Crain secured the doubles point for Dickinson with a 7-5 win at the first flight over Eva Kading and Soleil Namunyola. Then, with the outcome of the match coming down to her and Kading at No. 4 singles, she took the first 6-4, before claiming the second 7-6 in a 7-4 tiebreaker to give Dickinson a 4-3 victory.
The Red Devils return to action on Wednesday afternoon at 3pm when they continue conference play with a trip to Bryn Mawr College.
