(Hilton Head, S.C.) - Dickinson women's tennis program finished their spring break trip to South Carolina in style with an impressive 5-3 victory over Albion College (5-1).
At the Hilton Head Island Beach and Tennis Resort, David London's Red Devils combined for two doubles wins and three singles victories.
Duo Shannon Lavery (Huntington, W. Va./Huntington) and Madeline Altholtz (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) grabbed the upper hand first (9-7). The second advantage (8-5) shortly followed from Sarah Cantor (Providence, R.I./The Wheeler School) and Madison Parks (Denton, Md./North Caroline).
Dickinson displayed focus and intensity throughout the singles matches, headlined by a thrilling first-flight win from Lavery (6-2, 7-5). The senior put on a show, willing through a series of exciting slices and down-the-line winners.
Parks continues to improve her rookie campaign. The first-year added another solid victory in the fourth flight (6-4, 6-1).
First-year Claire Stoner (Shelburne, Vt./Champlain Valley Union) improved strength in her serve, posting Dickinson's fifth point and third singles win (6-2, 6-2).
After earning their first win of the young season, the Red Devils (1-4) return north to Carlisle on Saturday.
Dickinson is ready for Centennial Conference play to kick off next Saturday (Mar. 22) at Washington College.
