(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team celebrated senior day with a decisive 8-1 win over visiting Muhlenberg College on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Sydney Diamond (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) turned in a pair of dominant performances in her final home appearance, earning two points on the afternoon. She opened with an 8-0 win in the top doubles spot, joining sophomore Lauren Altschuler (Malvern Pa./Eastern). Diamond rolled to (6-2, 6-0) victory in the second singles flight.
Juniors Madison Parks (Denton, Md./North Caroline) and Joana Nunes (Carcavelos, Portugal/St. Julien's School) posted an 8-1 win in second doubles and had two straight set wins in singles. Parks did not surrender a point at #3, winning (6-0, 6-0) while Nunes captured the fourth, (6-1, 6-0).
Elizabeth Marin (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) won the fifth (6-0, 6-0) and Lydia Fox (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Arlington) went (6-1, 6-0) in the sixth. Marin joined sophomore Emily Sprague (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) for an 8-2 win in third doubles.
The Red Devils improve to 9-5 overall and 6-4 in the Centennial Conference. They earn the number five seed in the conference playoffs and will travel to #4-seed Haverford for the first round on Wednesday.
