(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team turned in a dominant performance, posting a 9-0 decision over visiting McDaniel College in its home opener on Tuesday afternoon.
The Red Devils had a strong start in doubles, going 8-0 in all three matches. Sophomore Lauren Altschuler (Malvern, Pa./Eastern) and junior Madison Parks (Denton, Md./North Caroline) did not surrender a point, claiming the top doubles flight and winning in straight sets in first and second singles, respectively.
Sophomore Emily Sprague (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) and first-year Lydia Fox (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Arlington) each dropped just one game in a pair of wins in the number three and four spots.
Sophomore Jaclyn Baum (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) captured the fifth flight, surrendering just one game as well while classmate Melissa Anese (Stow, Ohio/Stow) closed out the sweep with a (6-4, 6-1) decision at number six.
Senior Sydney Diamond (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) and Joana Nunes (Carcavelos, Portugal/St. Julien's School) joined Altschuler and Parks for wins in the first and second doubles flights.
The Red Devils improve to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the Centennial Conference. Dickinson is in action again next Tuesday, hosting Gettysburg College in a double-header with the men's team at 4:00 pm.
